Winter's Shield

€6.70

Taste: Winter’s Shield is a surprising combination of green Sencha tea, aromatic herbs, and spices for a unique taste sensation with alternating intensities of aromas and a spicy aftertaste.

What's in for me: Winter's Shield herbal blend combines anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that support your immune system. Winter's Shield is a favorite for the immune system during the year when our body is most sensitive to viruses and bacteria. The antiviral and antioxidant properties of olive leaves and rooibos balance an overstimulated immune system that is a driving force for the appearance of allergies and various inflammatory conditions. A warm winter's shield cup of tea is a great companion on cold winter days. Start your day with one cup of Winter Shield to support immunity throughout the day!

Rooibos

Derives from a fynbos plant part of South Africa, which has been consumed since the late 1700s. Rooibos contains unique bioactive phytochemicals, such as aspalathin, luteolin, and quercetin, which have powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-mutagenic activities. Polyphenols such as rutin and quercetin enhance the anti-inflammatory activities of Rooibos on allergies and digestion discomfort.

Sencha Green Tea

Is a variety of Japanese Green tea, derived from Camellia Sinensis. Sencha tea is made from tea plants that have been exposed to the sun all year and cultivated in the shade for thirty days prior to harvesting. Sencha leaves are tightly compressed into needle-like shapes. Covering the leaves seems to increase the chlorophyll concentration of the leaves, causing the leaves to turn dark green. Camellia Sinensis is known for the presence of preserved polyphenols, with it being used medicinally since ancient times. Sencha Green tea is rich in minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, and zinc. Catechins are present, such as epicatechin, ECG, EGC, and EGCG. EGCG is the most plentiful, about sixty percent of the total catechin concentration. Green tea polyphenols have presented activity against a wide spectrum of microbes. EGCG and ECG have been demonstrated to impede the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, therefore inducing a positive immune response.

Olive  leaves

Are most known in the Mediterranean region, where they are used in traditional medicine. Olive tree leaves are rich in flavanols, secoiridoids, and polyphenols, more than olive oil or olives. Phenolic compounds in olive tree leaves have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-thermogenic, and anti-cancer activities.  Oleuropein, the main active component in olive tree leaves, has been shown to modify human immune response, increase nitric oxide production in macrophages and produce strong antimicrobial and antiviral activity.

Turmeric

Is widely cultivated in Asia, India, China, and other tropical countries. Turmeric contains curcumin which is known for its anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory effects in the last two decades. Curcuminoids, the main chemical principles of turmeric, have been shown to modulate the activation of immune cells and increase immune response.

Holy Basil

Known also as tulsi, is a culinary aromatic herb indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for more than 3000 years. Holy Basil, has been referred to as an Elixir of Life for its healing powers for many health conditions. It has been used for bronchitis, cough, asthma, headache, inflammation, rheumatism, and pyrexia. Volatile oils and phenolic compounds in holy basil have provided relief of asthmatic symptoms and improved immune response in healthy adults.
