Beetroot

Beets were grown by the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. During the Middle Ages, they were used to treat conditions relating to digestion and blood. A great source of vitamins and minerals -such as calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium. It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and contains concentrated nitrates, which positively affect heart health, oxygenation, and enhancement of athletic endurance and recovery.

Calendula

One of the most famous representatives of the Mediterranean flora. The plant’s name comes from the Romans, who first noticed that its flowers bloomed during the first day of the month (the calends). Calendula is one of the most popular and versatile herbs. Its flowers contain many antioxidants, and it’s pretty beneficial for the skin, the nervous, and the digestive system -as it prevents possible intestinal disorders. It is also known for its antiseptic properties. Ertha’s calendula comes from certified bio crops from a location with ideal climate and soil conditions.

Holy Basil

Also known as Tulsi, it’s an aromatic herb that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for more than 3,000 years. It contains calcium, vitamin C, iron, zinc, chlorophyll, and vitamin A (the latter two strengthen the immune system). It has been called the elixir of life, the king of herbs and Liquid Yoga. Holy basil has been reported to promote homeostasis -a physical state disrupted by prolonged physical exercise, exposure to cold and excessive noise, which cause normal and metabolic stress. Also, it can lower sugar and cholesterol levels.

Tangerine Peel

Tangerines are a type of mandarin; the oldest hybrid fruits -a cross between a mandarin orange and a bitter orange- and the second-largest cultivated citrus fruit after oranges. In ancient times, tangerines were highly valued because they had a unique taste and a loose rind, making them easy to peel. The peel contains tangeretin, a super-flavonoid that studies have shown is an effective way to lower cholesterol. Tangerine peel also improves digestion and eases intestinal discomfort, such as gas and bloating.

Ceylon Cinnamon

Ceylon cinnamon is one of the two varieties of cinnamon - the other is cinnamon cassia, also known as Chinese cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is a well-known spice with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-diabetic properties. Besides cooking, it is used in Ayurvedic medicine for respiratory, digestive, and various gynecological conditions. In addition, it is beneficial in the long term in regulating blood pressure, improving glycemic control, and reducing the risk of complications associated with diabetes.
